Flake ice is widely used because of its flat shape, large contact area, fast cooling, low production cost and excellent food preservation.

Freshwater flake ice machines are widely used in food preservation in supermarkets, restaurants and slaughterhouses. It is also often used in industries such as leather manufacturing, chemical dyes and concrete construction.

The seawater flake ice machine can be directly used for ice-making operations on fishing boats. It is aimed at the characteristics of high salinity, strong corrosion, swaying ships, and harsh weather in seawater.
Features of flake ice:

(1) Large contact area and rapid cooling

Due to its flat shape, flake ice has a larger surface area than other shapes of ice with the same weight. The larger the contact surface area, the better the refrigeration effect, and its refrigeration efficiency is 2 to 5 times higher than that of tube ice and granular ice.

(2) Low production cost

The production cost of flake ice is very economical. It only needs about 85 kWh of electricity to refrigerate water at 16 degrees Celsius into 1 ton of flake ice.

(3) Excellent food preservation

Flake ice is dry, soft and has no sharp angles, which can protect the packaged food during the refrigerated packaging process. Its flat shape minimizes possible damage to the refrigerated items.

(4) Mix thoroughly

Due to the huge surface area of flake ice, its heat exchange process is rapid, flake ice can quickly melt into water, take away heat, and increase humidity for the mixture.

(5) Convenient storage and transportation

Due to the dry texture of flake ice, it is not easy to cause adhesion during low-temperature storage and transportation, and it is easier to store and transport.
